ich könnte ein wenig hilfe gebrauchen bei der übersetzung von ~Senta~ in Sindarin.
Das bedeutet so viel wie 'Wachstum' oder 'Aufblühen'.
Viele dank schon mal im voraus!

Falls Senta eine Kurzform von Crescentia ist (< lat. crescere), wie behindthename.com angibt, so passt bedeutungsmäßig vermutlich eher etwas mit 'wachsen', evtl. *Galeth. 'Wachstum' wörtlich wäre galas.

Ich habe noch gefunden, das es auch eine Kurzform von Vinzenta (die Siegerin) sein könnte... Man könnte also vielleicht auch hier unter Viktoria nachsehen.

Wenn man das Aufblühen etwas poetischer auffasst, könnte man vielleicht etwas aus
*edlothia- vb blühen (WR/293); vb erblühen (WR/293, X/TL)
machen?!

Meinst du damit, dass Senta als Kurzform von neulat. florescentia zu verstehen sei? Ich habe keine Hinweise darauf gefunden.

Crēscō ist doch eigentlich inchoativ, deswegen wohl die Übersetzung "aufblühen". Die Übersetzungen hier sind:
1. I come to be.
2. I become visible, spring from, arise, come forth.
3. I increase, rise, grow, thrive; multiply, augment.
Da so ein Name ja auch nicht unbedingt wörtlich übersetzt werden muss, könnte man schon durchaus die Bedeutung "aufblühen" verwenden.

Wenn ich dazu mal was anmerken darf: klick.
Und in diesem Fall hat Wiki mal recht. Ich bin irgendwann während des Studiums bei Recherchen zum Thema Theatermalerei ebenfalls auf die Tatsache gestoßen, dass der Name tatsächlich erst ab Wagner auftaucht. Er hat ihn quasi "erfunden" und von da an wird er verwendet. Vorher ist er zumindest in Mitteleuropa nicht belegt. Eine Bedeutung hat er nicht, Wagner gefiel wohl nur der Klang.
Alle "Zuordnungen" sind nachträglich aufgesetzt. Das spricht prinzipiell nicht gegen sie, wenn jemand kein Problem damit hat, authentisch sind sie aber nicht.

Und eine Bitte Aradan: Stell dieses schreckliche animierte, hüpfende Avatar-Dings ab. Die sind hier im Forum a) nicht erlaubt und b) nervt es gewaltig. :wink:
